Metal Cap Badge of the Army of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (VF BiH)
Scope and Contents
The Army of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH) [Vojska Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine (VFBiH)], was established on 18 March 1994, but officially came into being only after the Dayton Peace Agreement was signed on 14 December 1995. It was created by the merger of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) and the Croatian Defence Council (HVO) into a single military structure with two national components, Bosniak and Croat. The members of the AFBiH served under joint commands as the official armed force of the Bosnian and Herzegovinian entity of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Following a reorganization in 2005, the army was integrated into the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina under the administration of the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Description
The three-part insignia represents the Federation with the fleur-de-lis (Zlatni ljiljan) of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the checkerboard (šahovnica) of the Croat Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia. The circle of ten stars on the lower half signify the ten cantons (provinces) of the Federation. The shield is encircled with a wreath of golden laurel or oak leaves, which symbolizes the unity of the two entities, in addition to the indication of advanced rank.
The cap pin is roughly round and measures 1.5 x 1.5 inches with a locking screw to accomodate an officer's visor or heavy wool beret. It is encased in a 3 x 3 in. frame with a cardboard back.
