Notable correspondence: Included are several letters to Allen Spitzer from Hollywood character actor S. Z. "Cuddles" Sakall, who says that he has had great success and is playing large roles (11-2-40). A researcher at the "San Francisco Examiner" tells Spitzer that he has been unable to locate any information about an actress named Lucille Ricksen. The correspondences with Florence Schmidt cover topics on Native American and Indigenous studies. Dave Schuller wonders whether Allen desires to make his Fulbright sojourn in Australia permanent. Allen's sister Mabel Spitzer Sharon mentions Allen's gout (6-4-54), Lillian Spitzer's operation (6-22-54), and Allen's fractured hip (5-15-65). George Smith, S. J. comments on Robert J. Henle's view that anthropology should replace the classics as a component of a liberal arts education. Allen Spitzer is asked to represent Stanford University at the inauguration of the president of Culver-Stockton College in Missouri (10-15-56) and the Stockwells note that Lillian Spitzer has taken over Allen's classes at SLU after his death (12-13-67). Anselm Strittmatter, O. S. B. reminisces about Allen's early approaches to Catholicism (1-23-44) and refers to Allen's disillusionment with his doctoral program (3-9-46). Joan Stroner writes verses to the Spitzers.
