Anarchist Society & Its Practical Realization - pamphlet by Graham Purchase, published 1990 by the See Sharp Press, San Francisco. Originally published in a series of articles in the Australian anarcho-syndicalist paper Rebel Worker, 1990. Outlines a positive vision of anarchist society.

Anything Less than Anarchy is Tyranny, Anything More than Free is Thievery - zine with anarcho-communist/anarcho-pacifist slant, centered on freedom, cooperation, and tolerance; self-published by Matt-n-Jason at the Anti-O-Press, Santa Cruz, California; undated

Bushwhacker - zine, generally anarchist/counterculture in focus; originated in New England, later published in California; half-size, non-professional layout. Self-published by Jason Underground, Berkeley, CA; undated, circa 1989-1993

Cometbus - Comic book punk zine, founded in Berkeley, CA in 1983 by Aaron Cometbus, born Aaron Elliot. Self-published, usually handwritten. Includes band interviews, diaries, and observations on the punk subculture in the San Francisco Bay area and from Aaron's cross-country travels. Began typing issues in later years.

Copwatch - Berkeley People's Park newsletter, published by COPWATCH, a community-based volunteer organization that "monitors police activity in the Southside neighborhood in an effort to preserve the righs of all citizens, including those who live on the street, to fair treatment under the law."

Direct Action Manual Project - Self-published anarchist booklet. A project of the Web Collective, San Francisco, California, Winter 1993; began as a local project of Bay Area anarchists. A rough draft of assorted papers on anarchist direct action/a guide to street protests and resistence in the 1990s.

Down and Out in Berkeley and Oakland - comic zine, written and published by Mike "Moby" Theobald, 1994-1995, in Berkeley and Oakland, California. Has a generally punk, anarchist, and anti-authoritarian leaning.

Free Frog - Self-published anarchist barter zine, published by S.D.A.F., San Diego, California. States that "We believe in absolute individual freedom and equality of all people regardless of race, sex, sexuality, age and/or spiritual beliefs. We believe in the natural goodness of humanity. We are working for an unoppressive society in which individuals can co-exist wout a power structure based on moral and economic conditioning. We are striving for a world in which problems are solved through communication as opposed to VIOLENCE."

House of Raging Women - Comic punk zine, self-published by Kate Matthew, 1997-1998. Feminist in focus, published in San Francisco, California. Inconsiderate, Passive-Aggressive and Snarky Antique Postcards 1907-1921, 2023 - a zine from Rain Barrel Zines (based out of California) featuring vintage postcards. [Added to collection August 2025]

Lesbian Contradiction - underground newspaper, published in San Francisco, California. A "journal of irreverent feminism," containing news items and editorials of relevance to feminists and lesbians.

Lookout - Free, bound journal on newsprint. Edited, published, and primarily written by Lawrence D. Livermore. Environmentalist, political journal with music notes and a comic strip. Published in Berkeley, CA, Summer 1992 - "sixty four pages of fish stories, tall tales, scathing diatribes, biting screeds, and the usual punk rock nonsense."

Maximum Rock N Roll - One of the most widely distributed zines in the world. A monthly fanzine supporting and reporting on the underground punk rock scene. Began as a punk rock radio show in 1977 in San Francisco (KPFA) hosted by Tim Yohannan and Jeff Bale - the zine first appeared in 1982 as a newsprint booklet included in the Not So Quiet on the Western Front compilation LP. Included band interviews, columns, reviews, and scene reports from around the US, and was extremely popular through the 1980s and until the internet took off in the 1990s. Advocated a DIY ethics and radical politicsm, promoted underground music as well as Yohannen's personal views. Yohannen died of cancer in 1998 - since then a number of people have coordinated the magazine. Network Bulletin, Asian Network for Equality and Justice - newsletter published by the Asian Network for Equality and Justice, based out of San Francisco. [added to collection August 2025]

New Indicator - original campus newspaper of University of California, San Diego, established 1966. Generally progressive/leftist, covering campus-wide, local, and national current events.

Prevailing Winds Research - catalog published by Prevailing Winds Research, a non-profit organization "attempting to preserve important and scarce information and making it available in the form of audios, videos, books, and reprints." Focused on compiling alternative and underground literature and sound recordings for distribution. Based in Santa Barbara, California.

Punchline, "Age of Discover-Up" - zine published by John Yates, San Francisco, California. Anti-authoritarian, anti-colonial, generally anti-oppression in all forms. Age of Discover-Up issue highlights injustices perpetrated by the United States government throughout its existence.

Security - typed information packet, with instructions as to how to use the internet for anarchist activities, how to hack into voicemail, etc.

Serf City Black Banner - Newsletter of the Santa Cruz Anarchist Movement (SCAM)

Slingshot - Student/community radical newspaper originating in Berkeley, California. Originally sponsored by the Associated Students of the University of California. First appeared in 1988, and included weekly photocopied accounts of protests in and around UC Berkeley campus. In the early 1990s, Slingshot moved off campus to the Long Haul Infoshop and increased its size to newsprint. The collective also produces the Slingshot Organizer calendar to help pay for the publication and for rent; issued 4 times per year.

Steal the Fire - zine, anarchist in focus, self-published in San Francisco, California, by Mike Lee at Acts of Resistence, part of a local organization known as Anarchist Media Net. Covers radical, anarchist and prisoner concerns

Stinkin' Happy - Comic punk zine, self-published by Kate Matthew, 1997-1998. Feminist in focus, published in San Francisco, California.

Stinky's Wetspots - zine with an anti-authoritarian focus. Self-published by unknown author, SWS Publishing, San Francisco, California. Primarily includes photocopies of articles from other zines.

Turning the Tide: Anti-Racist Activism, Research, and Education - underground newspaper published by People Against Racist Terror (P.A.R.T.), Burbank, California. Supportive of anarchist and anti-racist, anti-prison, and anti-oppressive viewpoints Uncle Sam the Pusher Man: the story of how the U.S. people got hooked on morphine, heroine, and methadone - pamphlet distributed by the Drug Research Project, based out of San Francisco. [added to collection August 2025]

Women Power! Do It Yourself Abortion. Times Up! - Leaflet with instructions on how to perform at-home abortions. Publisher unknown, though affiliated with the Federation of Feminist Women's Health Centers, Hollywood, California, 1992.
