Included here are: two letters to a Father Coonan, one regarding the publication of his dissertation and the other commenting on his essay on R. L. Schuyler (filed under "Coonan"); letters to Bannon from Matthew Germing, S. J. authorizing his study of medieval history and giving him permission to smoke ("It is the rule here to demand a doctor's certificate to the effect that smoking will be beneficial to the one concerned"); a missive from George B. Hartzog Jr. at the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial in St. Louis relaying praise from the chief of the Division of Interpretation of the National Park Service for a historical narrative that Bannon prepared in aid of a museum layout at the Memorial; a letter from Merrill J. Mattes, acting regional chief of interpretation for the National Park Service, echoing his superior's feelings about Bannon's narrative on the westward migration; letters from Philip W. Powell about revisions to Bannon's _History of the Americas_ and his own suggestions for changes; a Xerox copy of a photo of Father Eusebio Kino's bones, sent by Paul M. Roca (the original photograph is part of the John F. Bannon Photograph Collection); a letter from Hugo F. Sloctemeyer, S. J. commenting on the young Bannon's plan of study; and a letter and report directed to Charles W. Polger, S. J. by a Mexican national, name illegible, who proposes a theory of cellular anarchy to explain cancer.
