Turistička Mapa Srebrenice [Tourist Map of Srebrenica], 2012

Item — Box: 2, Envelope: Turistička Mapa Srebrenice

Scope and Contents

The Turistička mapa općine Srebrenica is markedly diffdrent than other commercial productions of its kind. In contrast with the broad strokes and absence of scale of most tourist maps, this specific edition was built strictly on topographic GIS (Geographic Information Systems) basemaps, and because it was authored by professional geographers, GIS experts, and demographic researchers, its execution and content offer cartographic precision and a fairly academic documentation of the landscape.

The map-side of the sheet portrays the terrain using precise contour lines and shaded relief to accurately represent Srebrenica's mountainous topography and plots precise cadastral boundaries, settlements, and hamlets typically omitted on larger national travel maps. The Legenda at the top right provides notations for features of the natural and built ienvironment, tourist information, and cultural and historical sites. Every micro-site affected by the 1990s conflict and subsequent repopulation efforts is accurately accounted for and labeled. The rest of the map is surrounded by images from the region.

The reverse includes additional color photographs related to the specific expertise of the contributing Tuzla faculty, including demographic landmarks, eco-tourism assets (local wildlife, the mineral spring spouts of Crni Guber), structural remains of historic architecture, and views of the natural terrain.
