Domenick DiPasquale served as a US Foreign Service Agent in the US Department of State. He spent much of his career in Europe and the Balkans, and was stationed at the American Culture Center in Sarajevo from 1987-1989. After moving on, he continued to take an interest in the developments throughout Yugoslavia and its successor states.

He amassed a significant personal collection of some 3,600 newspaper clippings, articles, and documents, photographs, maps, and periodicals. They cover a time period from about 1985 to 1998 on topics including the breakup of Yugoslavia, the conflict in Bosnia, and the period after the conflict. The clippings are derived from sources that include the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Herald Tribune. Topics range from the ground conflict, internal political and international diplomatic efforts to end the conflict in Bosnia, to commentary, opinion pieces, editorials, and feature pieces on life during the conflict.
