Walter H. Hill Manuscript Collection [DOC MSS 3]

 Collection
Identifier: DOC MSS 3

Scope and Contents

While some of the items in this collection were created by Father Hill, much of the collection consists of items written about Father Hill or about topics of interest to Father Hill.  As Father Hill was the author of the Historical Sketch of the Saint Louis University (1879), the "Historical Sketch of SLU" series contains several interesting items related to the book.  Another series of interest is the "Biographies" series.  It contains 10 biographical sketches of Father Hill, including a brief autobiography.  The collection contains a modest set of letters to or about Father Hill in the "Correspondence" series, and the "Pottowatomi Indians" series consists of 2 handwritten booklets of the Pottowatomi language compiled by Father Maurice Gailland, a contemporary of Father Hill.
