Muriel Clemens Gotwals Manuscript Collection [DOC MSS 48]
Scope and Contents
The Correspondence series contains letters from home penned by physician James Ross Clemens to his children, Muriel Clemens Gotwals and Cyril Clemens. Brother and sister were first away at boarding school and, as they grew up, on sojourns overseas. The letters reflect a doting parent lonely for his brood and his often- absent wife, as well as a man dedicated to his profession and anxious to support his family in the style to which they were accustomed. The Manuscripts series contains a religious poem by Dr. Clemens, who was also an accomplished writer.
