Scope and Contents

This collection consists of one School Friendship Book scrapbook, created by Marie J. Domini, a student at Cote Brilliante School and Central High School in St. Louis, Missouri.

Marie J. Domini Hanson was born in 1910 in St. Louis to parents Angelo and Mary Domini. Her father had been born in Italy and her mother died when Marie was an infant. Marie attended Cote Brilliante School in the Greater Ville neighborhood of St. Louis, from which she graduated in 1925 at age 14. She began attending Central High School and graduated in 1928, after which she enrolled in the University of Missouri. She later married Harold Hanson and had one child; Marie died in 2007 at the age of 96.

This scrapbook, titled School Friendship Book and designed by Clara Powers Wilson, was created by Marie J. Domini and includes material from 1924 to 1928, during her time at Cote Brilliante School and Central High School in St. Louis, Missouri. The material includes: photographs and notes from her classmates and teachers; report cards from Central High School and her first semester at the University of Missouri; letters; newspaper clippings about basketball and football at Central High School; theatre and event programs; poetry; tickets to sports games; greeting cards; drawings from friends; and other ephemera.

This scrapbook depicts student life in St. Louis during the 1920s and was purchased by the Library in 2023.
