2010-2011 Concert Season, 2010 - 2011
Scope and Contents
Series 5, which combined woodcut and photopolymer techniques, also introduced the dimension of artists’ books to the posters. Each print can be folded into a small book by following directions presented on The Firecracker Press website. This presented design challenges, as the print must work as a whole poster, work as a book, and not lose its ability to advertise the bands and the club. Additional technical challenges included running perforated “stripes” down the center of the poster to facilitate folding the poster into a book. The size of the posters increased with this series to 11 inch by 17 inch sheets, allowing The Firecracker Press to recoup some time from the trimming process. The Riverfront Times named the Times New Viking poster their Best Concert Poster of 2011.
