Ahern, John, 1977-1980
Scope and Contents
Ahern describes a congress on "the relations between Theater and 'Spectacle' in the Middle Ages and the Guillari, or jongleurs; or what we call Oral Poets" (6-
22-77). Ong replies that "European scholars mostly simply do not know what's happened, where we're at" in the study of orality (7-13-77). Ahern comments
further on European scholars' engagement with orality (8-20-80) and Ong
responds with suggestions for Ahern's article on the reception of Dante's
_Divine Comedy_ (10-2-80).
