Scope and Contents
Arrangement is alphabetical by subject and chronological thereunder, with one or two exceptions. This series contains correspondence, clippings, notes, summaries of jobs executed by Ravenna, pamphlets, inventories of materials, promotional literature, samples of materials, contracts, lists of negatives and mosaic sample pieces, sales receipts and invoices, ledgers and insurance policies, all filed according to Ravenna's original system. Noteworthy material appears in the folders dedicated to artists Beniamino Bufano, John de Rosen, Richard Haines, Russell M. Kraus, Hildreth Meiere, Mary Reardon, Millard Sheets, and Melville P. Steinfels, as well as in those titled Cincinnati Union Terminal, dealing with the quest to save Winold Reiss's mosaics in the threatened railroad station, and Projects, covering possible mosaic jobs for Ravenna. The story of Gerdt Wagner, German-American mosaic entrepreneur and Nazi propagandist, is covered in the folders filed under his name and that of Mortimer Schwager.
