Summers and Sabbaticals, 1950-1961
Scope and Contents
This folder contains information on short term teaching and research opportunities that Allen Spitzer was interested in.
Items include: a letter from Trafford P. Maher, S. J., director of the department of education at SLU, advising Spitzer that he "should begin to stake out some specific area or type of research upon which you intend to spend your major efforts. It strikes me that there is always the danger of spreading one's self over so many areas that one finally comes to claim none of them intensively" (4-23-57). Also here is Spitzer's report on his projected field season of research and writing during the summer of 1959 (12-1-58). Two letters from the National Teacher Placement Service informs Spitzer of jobs at East Tennessee State College (5-11-59) and Long Beach State College in California (6-24-59).
