The Guardian, 1991
Scope and Contents
The Guardian was a radical leftists independent weekly newspaper, founded by James Aronson, Cedric Belfrage, and John T. McManus. It was published between 1948 and 1992 in New York City. Originally called the National Guardian, the paper historically supported communist, socialist, and New Left political viewpoints, though it never aligned itself with any particular political party. The newspaper stopped publication in 1992 due to financial problems and declining readership.
