Biography
Floyd Hampton Lea was the son of George A. Lea of Seymour, Missouri. He was a farmer, and enlisted on September 19, 1917 at the age of 25. He arrived in France on June 21, 1918, served there and in Luxembourg, and was discharged at Camp Funston, Kansas on April 19, 1919, reaching his home the next day, Easter Sunday. He had been a wagoner with the Motor Battalion, 105th Ammunition Train.

Abstract
This collection contains a diary kept by Floyd Lea while overseas during World War I. It offers vivid pictures both of combat and its aftermath, as well as a harrowing story of a double train wreck that Lea experienced as he made his way home through France. This collection is organized into 3 series:Â 1. Diaries; 2. Ephemera; 3. Photographs.
