We know relatively little about Ruth Backof. She was probably born around 1900 in St. Louis. She was a graduate of McKinley High School in St. Louis, and she was studying to be a teacher. She also seems to have worked at Chapilon Advertising Company. She lived at various addresses in the city: 2931A Sidney Street, 2721 Ann Avenue, and 2925A Sidney. Her father was Otto Backof and her mother's name was Jessie. Ruth had a sister named Jessie.
